Associate Director HR (Edmonton, AB)

We are a non-profit Indigenous organization focused on servicing clients in the area of education, training and research and are looking for an Associate Director - Human Resources to join our team. The Associate Director (AD) will work as a member of the senior management team and will lead and direct the HR functions from our head office in Edmonton.

The AD will be responsible for: strategic human resources planning, supporting full cycle recruitment, performance management, employee relations, establishing and implementing retention and succession plan strategies, implementing all HR policy and procedures, reviewing and making further recommendations for a comprehensive compensation structure (pay, benefits/pension, etc.), implementing health and safety standards and other strategies/programs to support organizational capacity, and will act as a change agent to modernize existing HR functions.

The AD will have management skills in the area of budgeting and reporting on financial expenditures relating to HR functions. The AD will be a key person in developing goals and success strategies within the senior management team and will work in conjunction to identify the training requirements of staff and to unify the new HR culture operationally, strategically and financially. This is a unique position encompassing every area of Human Resources with a non-profit organization that is ready for a succession plan.

Chairperson (Edmonton, AB)

The Chairperson shall work with the Board to set strategic policy direction and will abide by the agreements held by the organization. Candidates for this position must be willing to act within the Articles of Association and the Memorandum of Association, and must comply with lawful obligations of a Governor as required by the Board’s Governance Policy including the decisions held by the organization’s shareholder which is the Métis Nation of Alberta.

The Chairperson’s duties include:

• Provide leadership to the Board under policy governance;
• Act in an advisory role to the CEO and RLI’s officers concerning the interests and management of RLI;
• Convene and preside over Board meetings;
• Sign agreements and contracts;
• Represent RLI as a spokesperson at all levels of government, industry, post-secondary institutions and Métis community;
• Plan and organize all Board activities;
• Participate with the Board in the development of the corporate vision, strategic agenda, and RLI Business Plans;
• Facilitate communication between RLI management and the Board.

Community-based Member (Edmonton, AB)

The Board of Governors of Rupertsland Institute, an affiliate of the Métis Nation of Alberta, seeks one community-based representative to serve on the Council for the Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research (RCMR). The appointment term for this appointment is two (2) years.

Métis community-based representatives on the RCMR Council will receive reimbursement for travel as per policies approved by the Board of Governors of Rupertsland Institute.
