Rupertsland Student Emergency Program (RSEP)
In coordination with the Métis Nation of Alberta, and the Métis Capital Housing Corporation, the Rupertsland Institute is offering the Rupertsland Student Emergency Program (RSEP) to help students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The RESP provides eligible post-secondary students with financial support to compensate for employment or financial opportunities lost as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
RSEP may provide support in the form of one of the following: rent subsidy, grocery support, distance learning support, tutoring support, or complimentary health services, such as health program enrolment or counselling support. To be eligible for this support, applicants must hold a Métis Nation of Alberta card, be enrolled in a post-secondary institution, and demonstrate financial need related to the pandemic.
The RSEP is funded by a one-time $1.8 million contribution by the Government of Canada, and offers support on a first come, first served basis. Those who apply will also be entered into the newly created Rupertsland Students’ Association for support from ongoing programs and services, and for volunteer opportunities.
