Authored by internationally recognized economist and statistician Eric Howe, the study measures the economic impact of the education gap in the lifetime earning potential of Aboriginals people in the province.

Lethbridge College Métis Education Foundation Announcement
Métis Education Foundation gives $500,000 for student awards at Lethbridge College May 15, 2013 – Lethbridge College announced a $500,000 gift today from the Métis Education Foundation. The gift will be directed to fund Métis Student Awards at Lethbridge College, ensuring over $20,000 to be awarded annually through awards of $3,500 each and will start in the 2013-14 school year.

Rupertsland Institute Completes Alberta Métis Community Engagement Sessions
Rupertsland Institute – Métis Centre of Excellence hosted a series of community engagement sessions across Alberta to gather information on how it can better serve Métis citizens. The sessions, which took place between October and December of 2012 were held in eleven communities, and attracted participation from over 180 community members.
University of Calgary – New scholarships for Métis students
Métis students studying at the University of Calgary can now access $60,000 in new scholarship opportunities annually, thanks to the Métis Education Foundation and their establishment of a $750,000 endowment. The endowment is a testament to the Métis Education Foundation, its affiliate, the Rupertsland Institute, and their parent organization, the Métis Nation of Alberta, for their advocacy and support of Métis students pursuing post-secondary education.
Rupertsland Institute Signs Partnership with Alberta Health Services
EDMONTON – A partnership between Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Rupertsland Institute, Métis Centre of Excellence, will create new training and employment opportunities for Métis students studying a health-related field. The agreement was signed today by Dr. Chris Eagle, President and CEO and Alberta Health Services, and Tracy Friedel, Chair of the Rupertsland Institute Board of Directors.
Metis Nation of Alberta and University of Lethbridge Support Metis Students
On Wednesday, Jan 25th 2012, the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) and the University of Lethbridge (U of L) announced a $1 million endowment fund for Métis students. The endowment was created by a donation of $500,000 from the MNA’s Métis Education Foundation (MEF), and matching contributions from the U of L and will be endowed in perpetuity as a $1 million fund that will be called “Métis Education Foundation – Métis Scholar Awards”.
Métis Nation of Alberta Appoints new Chair for the Rupertsland Institute
The Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tracy L. Friedel as the Chair of the Rupertsland Institute Board of Governors. Dr. Friedel was appointed on February 8, 2012 by the MNA Provincial Council and will serve a five-year term effective immediately.
