Administrative Assistant – Summer Student
The Role
Position Status: Full Time (40 hours/week), Temporary Summer (May/June – August)

The Opportunity
Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is hiring one (1) Administrative Assistant. This is a summer term position with an end date of August 31, 2024. Reporting to the Manager, Northeast, the successful candidate will provide general clerical support and administrative duties to the METI-Services Team in the Bonnyville office. The successful candidate will be an eager, self-motivated individual looking to gain valuable work experience. The successful candidate will have strong organization skills and attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude.
To Fit the Role
Responsibilities:
- Welcome and direct visitors, ensuring a positive client experience and accurately recording statistics of all client visits.
- Answer incoming phone calls and take messages for clients.
- Ensure completion of client registration forms.
- Provide general administrative support, including but not limited to, electronic and paper filing, photocopying, document assembly and assisting with general office procedures.
- Maintain and organize client self-service resources and materials, as needed by clients.
- Assist the Advisors in reviewing files for completeness and accuracy, archiving hard files, and conducting follow-up calls to clients.
- Assist with marketing efforts for the resource center in the community.
- Offer remote client assistance in accessing job and career information online and provide information regarding the resource center’s career and employment services.
- Other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or a related field.
- 1 – 2 years of administrative experience is an asset. School or volunteer experience is considered valid experience.
- Customer service experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with others.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as the ability to work with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when working with clients.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite applications and online platforms including online/digital meeting applications.
Other Requirements:
- Due to funding requirements, this position is open to Métis students only. This would include Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
- Due to funding requirements, candidates must be between the ages of 17 – 29.
- Due to funding requirements, candidates must be currently enrolled in full-time post secondary education and must be returning to school full time in September 2024.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events. This may include some travel.
