On May 13 and 14, 2023, Rupertsland Institute hosted its inaugural Beaver’s Den during the Sôniyâhkêw (they earn): Métis Youth Side Hustle Summit. Contestants competed for financial incentives to kickstart and fund their side hustles.
On March 31 and April 1, 2023, Rupertsland Institute proudly hosted the first Métis Women’s Entrepreneur Conference in the Pomeroy Hotel in Grande Prairie.
Over the course of two days, over 164 Métis women from across Alberta came together to gain valuable skills, tools, resources, and connections to implement into their current or aspiring business venture to ensure further success, growth and sufficiency in self-employment ventures.
On January 20, Rupertsland Institute (RLI) was excited to host the Métis Entrepreneurial Excellence Showcase at the Hotel Arts in Calgary. With 20 booths Métis entrepreneurs, such as Forward Fitness, Allie Knull Photography, and I Love Microgreens, showcasing their businesses, the inaugural event brought Métis entrepreneurs together to expand their reach. The room was full, creating an energetic hub of networking where community was fostered for both vendors and attendees alike.
Rupertsland Institute is proud to announce the winners of the Métis Entrepreneurial Excellence awards. Nine talented Métis business owners were recognized in a ceremony on the evening of January 20, 2022.
In a message to the winners, Mark McCallum, CEO of Rupertsland Institute congratulates all of the winners, said; “the Métis have long been known for their entrepreneurial spirit, and it is clear that this lives on in the many successful Metis entrepreneurs, who we honoured at the first-ever Rupertsland Metis Entrepreneurial Excellence Gala. On behalf of the Rupertsland Board of Governors, we are proud to have supported you in pursuing your dreams. Congratulations!”
Nine Awards were given out across three categories.
