Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is proud to announce that John Beke and Candice Foreman will be the newest additions to the RLI senior management team.  John will join RLI in mid-June as the Senior Director of Operations (SDO) and Candice will start June 7 as Director of Human Resources and Staff Development.  During their distinguished careers, both have worked in senior management and director positions in large complex organizations with combined experience spanning decades.

With 20 years HR experience, Candice has worked for organizations such as Manitoba Blue Cross, The Northwest Company, Loblaw Companies Ltd. and most recently Cargill Ltd in management and director positions. She graduated with honours from the Human Resources Management Program at Red River College in Winnipeg and graduated with a certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.  She is experienced in succession planning, organizational design, training and development management, leadership communications, and compensation planning.

John was selected from a shortlist of high caliber candidates who RLI interviewed for the SDO position.  This group included an impressive line-up of professionals with governmental, management leadership, and directorship experience, and RLI wishes to thank all those who participated in the recruitment process.

John’s career has intersected in an interesting mix of academic, entrepreneurial and government experiences.  John’s teaching career began as an instructor at NAIT in the Finance Program in 2005.  He worked as a full-time instructor for seven years and continued working as sessional instructor for another five years.  At the University of Lethbridge, he taught management, economics and statistics for business for a decade.  As Chair and Associate-Chair of NAIT’s Finance Program for consecutive years (2010-12), he is proud of his accomplishments that include the establishment of a curriculum committee for the Finance Program and participation in the curriculum development committee for the J.R. Shaw School of Business.  John joins RLI from MacEwan University where he held the position of Assistant Registrar since 2016 and worked briefly as the Director of Program Services for the School of Business at MU.

John has also operated a consulting firm where he specialized in environmental regulatory consultations, and he has an extensive background in Information Technology (IT).  He worked for the Government of Alberta over a 10-year span in various management positions developing IT platforms and resources.  He worked as Senior Manager of Alberta Health and Wellness, Manager of Business Planning for Alberta Municipal Affairs, and Manager of Corporate Planning for Alberta Innovations and Science.  He received a 2003 Premier’s Award of Excellence for participation on the Government of Alberta Enterprise Architecture Project.  His academic accolades include a 1984 Rutherford Award and being named to the Dean’s Honour Roll at the University of Lethbridge in 1991 and 1992.
