January 20, 2023
On January 20, Rupertsland Institute (RLI) was excited to host the Métis Entrepreneurial Excellence Showcase at the Hotel Arts in Calgary. With 20 booths of Métis entrepreneurs, such as Forward Fitness, Allie Knull Photography, and I Love Microgreens, showcasing their businesses, the inaugural event brought Métis entrepreneurs together to expand their reach. The room was full, creating an energetic hub of networking where community was fostered for both vendors and attendees alike.
“Kinship, bringing our community together is part of Métis culture,” Makayla LeSann, provincial projects manager for RLI, said. “We have amazing entrepreneurs in our community who deserve to be recognized and this event brought businesses together with potential clientele.”
The event was attended by over 200 people including Heartland and Avatar: The Last Airbender actor Nathaniel Arcand, RLI CEO Mark McCallum, and Métis Nation of Alberta president Audrey Poitras and vice-president Dan Cardinal.
“The Métis have long been known for their entrepreneurial spirit, the Métis Nation of Alberta would like to congratulate and acknowledge all Metis entrepreneurs for their resilience and perseverance of their dreams,” Cardinal said of the event.
