Apprenticeship Service Program Closure

The Rupertsland Institute (RLI) Apprenticeship Service Program (ASP) is no longer accepting applications as of February 26, 2024. The program will cease operations on March 31, 2024.

With funding from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), ASP was launched on October 13, 2022, and acted as a support to connect employers and aspiring trades workers who self-identify as Indigenous (Métis, First Nations, Inuit) and/or women (gender). The workers were first year Construction and Manufacturing apprentices hoping to gain real world experience in one of 32 skilled trades.

Axis Electric builds their team through new Apprentice Services Program

Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is now offering the Apprenticeship Service Program which provides $10,000 financial incentives for eligible small and medium-sized enterprises to sponsor first-year apprentices in 32 Red Seal trades. The federally funded initiative is aimed at increasing participation in the trades from diverse equity groups, including Métis, First Nations, Inuit and women.

Rupertsland Institute works with Nails Enterprises to grow trades in Alberta

Nails Enterprises recently hired Daniel Monias, a first-year apprentice carpenter as part of Rupertsland Institute’s (RLI) new Apprenticeship Services Program, a federally funded initiative aimed at increasing participation in the trades. The federal government currently estimates that 700,000 skilled trades workers are expected to retire in Canada by 2028 and is investing nearly $247 million to help create more than 25,000 apprentice positions in skilled trades across Canada through partnerships with organizations such as RLI.
