Rupertsland Institute (RLI) congratulates all of the 2021 Indspire Awards recipients, including RLI CEO Lorne Gladu. The Indspire Awards represents the highest honour the Indigenous community bestows upon its own people. The Awards recognize Indigenous professionals and youth who demonstrate outstanding career achievement on a national level in a variety of fields.

Press Release – Métis Nation of Alberta calls for re-draft of K-6 curriculum

Edmonton (March 31, 2021) – The Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) is calling on the Government of Alberta to redraft its proposed K-6 curriculum, citing monumental concerns about the Euro-American colonial undertones. The MNA and its education and training affiliate Rupertsland Institute had very little input into the design of the curriculum despite several attempts to be included in the committees that were established.

The Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA), Rupertsland Institute (RLI) and the Métis Education Foundation (MEF) are excited to launch two endowments to complement their current portfolio of 17 endowment partnerships with post secondary partners in Alberta. These two new endowments are held internally with the Métis Education Foundation.

Supporting Métis individuals affected by flooding in Fort McMurray

In partnership with the Métis Nation of Alberta, Métis Urban Housing and Capital Corp., Rupertsland Institute purchased bottled water to support the Métis community in Fort McMurray this week as they currently face a water advisory. The situation of vulnerable Métis citizens has become even more complex as a result of flooding and social isolation, and together, we wanted to find a way to support our community in Fort McMurray.

Rupertsland Institute (RLI) can help employers find Métis workers that match current employment needs and is currently offering two wage subsidy programs to employers in Alberta: The Métis Youth Summer Placement Program (MYSPP) is designed to enhance employment opportunities for Métis youth between the ages of 15 and 30.

RLI Launches New Initiatives to Address Community Needs in Response to COVID-19


In response to community needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, RLI has launched new initiatives with support from the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA).   RUPERTSLAND STUDENT EMERGENCY PROGRAM In partnership with the MNA, and the Métis Capital Housing Corporation, the Rupertsland Institute is offering the Rupertsland Student Emergency Program (RSEP) to assist students affected by the pandemic.
